Boyfriend Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. cocoa or 3 sq. unsweetened chocolate, cut up
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Put all ingredients, except butter and vanilla, in a 3-quart saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    Continue to cook and stir only a few times until mixture reaches soft ball stage on candy thermometer.
    (Maybe just a little longer.) Remove from heat.
    Add butter and vanilla.
    Beat until it thickens and loses its shiny look.
    Add nuts.
    Pour into a buttered 9-inch square pan to set.
