Corn Bread - cooking recipe

1 c. cornmeal
2 c. flour (plain)
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sweet milk
4 tsp. sugar
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, separated

Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add egg yolks, beaten lightly, with a teaspoon cold water.
