Icebox Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    1/3 to 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 to 1 yeast cake
    a little lukewarm water
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Bring the first 3 ingredients to boil; cool to lukewarm.
    Add yeast dissolved in water.
    Stir in 2 1/2 cups sifted flour (may use hand beater).
    Let stand in warm place for 1 hour.
    Add remaining ingredients sifted together; mix well.
    May put into refrigerator until next day.
    Shape into rolls.
    Let rise about 1 hour.
    Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 425\u00b0.
    Bake sweet buns for 20 minutes at 400\u00b0.
