Old Fashioned Corn Bread - cooking recipe

1 c. yellow corn meal
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. milk
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
Preparation

Preheat oven to 425\u00b0.
Grease an 8-inch square baking pan. Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
Add egg, milk and oil. Stir to make a fairly smooth batter. Pour into greased pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cool in pan or on wire rack. Cut into squares.
Serve warm or cold.
