Doughnuts Number 2 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 1/2 c. flour
    2 eggs
    4 Tbsp. butter or lard
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    oil to cook
Preparation
    Sift flour
    with
    salt and soda.
    Add sugar to eggs and milk. Beat
    thoroughly
    until
    sugar
    is dissolved.
    Then add melted butter
    and
    flour (enough to make a soft dough).
    Stir with knife.
    Roll
    1/4 to 1/2-inch thick and fry in hot oil at 375\u00b0.
