Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 lb. bacon, finely diced
    2 qt. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    2 c. each diced carrots, celery and onion
    4 c. diced potatoes
    1 can tomato soup
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 (7 1/2 oz.) cans clams
    strained clam juice
    1 1/2 Tbsp. flour (optional)
    2 Tbsp. water (optional)
Preparation
    Fry bacon until golden but not brown.
    Add water.
    Simmer 5 minutes.
    Add salt and vegetables, except potatoes.
    Simmer 20 minutes.
    Add potatoes, soup and pepper.
    Simmer 20 minutes.
    Add clams and juice.
    Cook 10 minutes.
    If desired, thicken with flour and water paste.
