Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 eggs
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    3 c. plain flour
    1 c. pecans
    1 c. raisins
    1 small can crushed pineapple, drained (save juice)
    1 medium jar maraschino cherries, drained (save juice)
    3 tsp. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 pt. jar jam (blackberry is best)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cloves
    cornstarch
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs, 1 at a time.
    Beat soda into buttermilk; add to shortening mixture.
    Add jam.
    Sift 2 cups of flour with spices; add to batter, slowly.
    Mix nuts and raisins with remaining cup of flour; add to mixture and beat.
