Victoria Sponge Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 oz. powdered sugar
    6 oz. butter or margarine
    6 oz. self-rising flour or plain flour with 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla essence
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Sieve the flour.
    Take out the butter from the refrigerator 1 hour in advance.
    Cream the butter and sugar very well. When mixture is light and creamy, add the eggs, one at a time, beating each time thoroughly.
    If the mixture curdles while adding eggs, add a little flour before adding the next egg.
    Fold in the flour and add milk until the mixture forms a dropping consistency.
    Add vanilla essence.
    Grease and dust two 7-inch diameter tins.
    Pour 1/2 the mixture into each of the two tins.
    Bake in a hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Cool the cake.
