Ingredients

4 lb. okra
6 medium red peppers
1 sliced onion
1 sliced garlic clove
pickling spice
mustard seed
1 pt. water
1 qt. white vinegar
1/2 c. salt
Preparation

Clean and wash okra.
Rinse well and place in a large colander to drain.
Pack okra in vertical order into pint or 1/2 pint jars, adding 1 or 2 hot peppers, raw onion and garlic as desired. Sprinkle mustard seed in each jar.
Make brine of water, vinegar and salt, adding pickling spice, if desired.
Heat to boiling. Pour over raw okra and seasonings.
Seal and let stand 3 to 4 weeks.
