Corn Dogs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. cornmeal
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    3/4 c. milk
    1 lb. hot dogs
    oil for deep frying
    catsup and mustard for serving
    2 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Stir in cornmeal.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Mix egg and milk and stir into cornmeal mixture until blended. Insert wooden skewer into each hot dog.
    Coat evenly with batter. Fry in deep heated oil (375\u00b0) until brown.
    Drain on paper towels. Serve with catsup and mustard.
