Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 qt. cucumbers
    2 qt. onions
    3 pt. vinegar
    salt
    water
    3 lb. sugar
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. white mustard seed
    1 tsp. ground ginger
Preparation
    Wash and slice, do not peel, the cucumbers.
    Wash, peel and slice thin the onions.
    Make brine of 9 cups of water to 1 cup salt and pour over cucumbers and onions.
    Let stand for 3 hours. Rinse, drain and squeeze out all the water.
    Combine the remaining ingredients and stir well.
    Heat, but do not boil, for 1 hour.
    Pack cucumber and onion slices in jars, pour syrup over them and seal.
