Bread In A Jar - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 wide-mouth, pint canning jars, with rims and new lids*
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. vegetable shortening
    4 eggs
    2/3 c. water
    2 c. fruit**
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1/4 t. ground cloves
    1 t. cinnamon
    1 t. baking powder
    2 t. baking soda
    1 t. salt
    2/3 to 1 c. raisins or nuts, dredged in some flour (optional)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0. Wrap a strip of foil around the rim of the jars. Grease inside of jars, but not the rim, set aside.
