Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. flour
3 c. milk
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. margarine
1 large pkg. vanilla wafers
5 large bananas, sliced
Preparation

Mix sugar and flour until well blended.
Add milk; mix well. Cook over low heat in heavy saucepan and stir continuously until mixture begins to thicken.
Beat egg yolks until well beaten and add to hot mixture.
Continue to stir until desired consistency. Remove from heat.
Add vanilla and margarine.
In a 9 x 13-inch dish, layer cookies, bananas and cooked mixture, repeating until all cookies, bananas and cooked mixture have been used.
