Stained Glass Candy - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 7/8 c. sugar
7/8 c. white Karo syrup
1/2 c. water
1 fluid oz. lemon, orange or cherry juice, 1/2 oz. mint or 1 tsp. oil of cinnamon (choose one of the flavorings)
powdered sugar
desired food coloring
Preparation

In heavy saucepan, mix sugar, Karo syrup and water.
Boil, stirring constantly, until 300\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
Remove from heat.
Add flavoring of choice and a few drops of food coloring. Mix thoroughly and pour evenly into a pan of powdered sugar.
Keep mixture away from sides.
As mixture cools enough to handle, cut with scissors into small pieces, always working from the outside edges.
Thirty-eight ounces of Karo syrup makes 5 batches.
