"Mom'S" Chocolate Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

3 Tbsp. Crisco
2 c. sugar
2 beaten egg yolks
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in a little water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour, sifted with 3 tsp. baking powder and 3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 beaten egg whites

Preparation

Cream Crisco and sugar together.
Add egg yolks, buttermilk and baking soda.
Mix well.
Add vanilla and flour, sifted with baking powder and cocoa.
Mix well.
Add egg whites.
Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan in a 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
