Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
4 tsp. milk
Preparation

For candy cane or any cut outs.
Heat oven to 375\u00b0. Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg; beat until mixture is light and fluffy.
Add vanilla and grated orange peel; mix thoroughly.
Sift dry ingredients.
Stir into creamed mixture with milk.
Divide dough in half; chill 1 hour.
Put on greased cookie sheet.
Bake 12 minutes.
Makes 2 dozen.
