Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    lettuce, shredded
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped bell pepper
    1 box frozen English peas
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1/4 c. sugar
    grated cheese
    bacon bits
Preparation
    Shred lettuce to cover bottom of dish (1-inch or more deep). Mix the mayonnaise with the sugar.
    Layer ingredients as in the order listed.
    Keep in icebox.
    Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
    When ready to serve, sprinkle bacon bits on top.
