"Quickie" Sauerbraten - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. lean beef
    1 pt. chili sauce
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    5 c. water
    4 tsp. salt
    3 large onions
    12 bay leaves
    18 whole cloves
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Place meat in large kettle with all ingredients.
    Simmer 2 or 3 hours until meat is tender.
    Remove meat.
    Strain gravy into large bowl.
    Replace in kettle and thicken with flour and water mixture.
    Slice meat and combine with thickened gravy.
    Serve over noodles.
