Jewish Apple Cake - cooking recipe

5 Tbsp. sugar
2 qt. apples, peeled and sliced
1 c. oil
1/4 c. orange juice
3 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Mix sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
Peel and slice apples and set aside.
Cream sugar and oil; add eggs, one at a time.
Mix baking powder and flour together and add this alternately with orange juice.
Add vanilla.
Bake in a greased tube pan; use batter first, then apples, then sugar/cinnamon mixture. Layer until all is used.
Bake 1/2 hour at 375\u00b0, then 1 hour at 350\u00b0. This keeps well.
