Russian Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. water
    3 c. dark vinegar
    6 Tbsp. salt
    cucumbers
    dill
    garlic
    small onion
    alum
Preparation
    Bring sugar, water, vinegar and salt to a boil and cool. Slice cucumbers lengthwise.
    Pack in jars with dill, garlic, small onion and pinch of alum.
    Pour cooled brine over pickles; seal loosely.
