Lye Soap - cooking recipe
Ingredients

11 c. lard
5 c. cold water
1/2 c. household ammonia
1/2 c. Borax
1/2 c. sugar
1 can lye
Preparation

Heat fat.
Dissolve sugar in 1 cup cold water.
Add remaining ingredients and stir until lukewarm.
Add this mixture to the fat. Stir until creamy.
Pour in glass baking dishes.
Cut after desired hardness is reached, usually from 12 to 36 hours.
