Homemade Apple Butter(Made In Crock-Pot, Stirring Occasionally) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. prepared apples
1 qt. sweet apple cider
1 pt. sugar
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Use large stone jar to pack kraut; sprinkle a little salt in bottom of jar, then layer of sliced or chopped cabbage, about 3 inches.
Add salt and sugar mixture, 1 tablespoon salt and 1 teaspoon sugar.
Sprinkle over cabbage.
Continue to fill jar with cabbage and the salt and sugar mixture until the jar is full. Press the cabbage down as you go.
When the jar is full, lay a dinner plate on top and weight down.
Be careful not to use too much salt.
Cover with white cloth.
Be sure to use canning salt.
