Lemon Gold Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    3 egg yolks, beaten
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla or 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
Preparation
    Sift flour once; measure.
    Add
    baking
    powder and sift together 3 times.
    Cream
    butter thoroughly.
    Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.
    Add egg yolks and beat well.
    Add flour alternately with milk, small amounts at
    a
    time. Beat
    after
    each
    addition
    until
    smooth.
    Add flavoring.
    Beat well.
    Bake in 2 greased 9-inch layer pans 25 to 30 minutes in moderate
    oven
    at
    375\u00b0.
    Spread with Lemon Frosting.
    Double recipe to make 3 (10-inch) layers.
