Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sliced carrots
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 c. sliced white onion
    4 green peppers, sliced
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. granulated pickling salt
    4 c. cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery salt
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Combine cucumber, onion, carrots, green pepper and whol garlic. Add salt.
    Cover with cracked ice, mix thoroughly.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain well.
    Remove garlic.
    Combine remaining ingredients and pour over vegetable mixture.
    Bring to boil.
    Fill hot jar 1/2 inch from top.
    Adjust lids.
    Process in boiling water bath for 5 minutes (start timing when water returns to boiling). Makes 8 to 10 pints.
