Forgotten Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 egg whites
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 pkg. lemon or chocolate pie filling
    whipped cream
Preparation
    Heat oven to 450\u00b0.
    Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until foamy.
    Add sugar slowly; beat to a very stiff meringue. Grease 9 x 13-inch Pyrex pan.
    Add meringue.
    Place in oven; turn off the heat immediately.
    Do not open door.
    Leave in oven overnight.
