Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. water
1 c. dates
1 tsp. soda
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. soda

Preparation

Put water and dates in saucepan.
Bring to a boil. Add soda. Set aside to cool.
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add rest of ingredients, date mixture last.
