Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. split peas
    ham bone, cut up or seasoning ham
    1 onion, cut in half
    1/2 tsp. minced garlic and parsley
    3 carrots, diced
    1 c. celery, diced
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash peas.
    Cover with water.
    Add ham bone and all seasonings.
    Add salt and pepper.
    Cook until peas are tender. Add water if soup is too thick.
    Should yield about 2 quarts soup. Serve piping hot and add croutons before serving.
