My Mother (Mildred) Icebox Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    a little over 2 c. milk
    1/2 c. shortening
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 yeast cake
    1/2 c. warm water
    self-rising flour
Preparation
Combine milk, shortening and sugar; let come to boiling point. Don't let boil. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast cake in warm water. Add to first mixture when cool. Add self-rising flour (enough to make kind of stiff dough).
Beat and mix well. Set aside and let rise well (2 or 3 hours). Work down real good. Put in pan. Put in refrigerator overnight, then take out and make out rolls.
Let them rise real good and bake. When they start to brown, baste with butter. Continue to bake until done.
