Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. stew meat
    2 Tbsp. dry onion soup mix
    4 carrots, cut in diagonal chunks
    1 can mushroom soup
    3 oz. can mushroom pieces (optional)
    4 potatoes, cut in chunks
Preparation
    In large Dutch oven, brown stew meat in 2 tablespoons oil. Add 2 tablespoons onion soup mix and stir well.
    Add can of soup and 1/2 to 1 can of water and stir.
    Peel potatoes and carrots and add to mixture along with mushrooms.
    Cover and bake at 350\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Thicken gravy with cornstarch last 5 minutes, if desired.
    Can be made in crock-pot, cooking it about 8 to 10 hours on low.
