Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 round Tbsp butter
1 c. dates, cut fine
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp soda
2 c. flour
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
nuts if desired

Preparation

Pour boiling water over dates and soda. Let stand a few minutes. Cream butter, sugar. Add egg and beat. Add vanilla. Sift flour baking powder, salt and add with date mixture. Bake 350\u00b0 about 25 minutes.
