Grandma Hornig'S (Madge) Scones - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. flour
2 Tbsp. shortening
dash of salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. dark Karo syrup
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients and work in shortening with a pastry blender.
Add syrup and buttermilk to make a soft dough.
Turn out on a floured surface; flip around a few times, then flatten out into a circle about 1/2-inch thick.
Cut into 8 wedges (a pizza cutter works great).
Put on a slightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Top will be only slightly brown.
Recipe may be doubled to make 16 at one time.
