Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
dash of salt
2 c. milk
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
coconut (as desired in pie)
Preparation

Combine sugar, flour and salt together.
Add milk.
Cool until warm.
Add egg yolks and cook until thick.
Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
When cool, pour into cooked, cooled pie crust.
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Add 1 tablespoon sugar for each white.
Bake in hot oven until brown.
Before baking, add coconut to top of egg whites.
