Applesauce Con Cheree - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large Granny Smith apples
    4 golden Delicious apples
    1 or 2 lemons
    1 can cherry pie filling
    sugar
Preparation
    Thin slice lemons after cutting off stem and blossom ends. Place in large pot with enough water to cover the fruit.
    Stew until rinds are very soft.
    Remove lemons from the water.
    Peel, core and thinly slice apples and put into lemon water.
    Cook until mushy, adding water if necessary.
    Use beater until no lumps.
    Add can of cherries.
    Stir in sugar to taste.
    Simmer until sugar is dissolved.
    Chill before serving.
