Peppery Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. yellow cornmeal
    1/2 c. plus 3 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. soda
    1 medium green pepper, finely chopped
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
    1 small can kernel corn (optional)
    2/3 c. water
    1/2 c. melted margarine
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. grated onion
    1 tsp. Creole seasoning
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients.
    Add buttermilk, water, margarine and egg.
    Mix well.
    Stir in onion and peppers.
    Carefully drop batter by teaspoonfuls into hot oil (375\u00b0).
    Fry 3 to 5 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.
    Drain well on paper towels.
    Yields about 2 1/2 dozen.
