Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
5 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. plain flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. coconut flavoring
1 (6 oz.) pkg. frozen coconut
Preparation

Cream sugar and Crisco.
Add eggs; beat well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
Add coconut flavoring and coconut last.
Beat well.
Bake in greased and floured Bundt pan for 1 hour (350\u00b0).
Leave in pan to cool.
While cake is still warm, mix 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water.
Boil 1 minute and add 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut flavoring.
Punch holes in cake and pour sugar mixture over cake.
Can put powdered sugar frosting on cake when cool, if desired.
