Ingredients

4 large beets, peeled and sliced medium
1 small onion, chopped fine
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white vinegar
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 c. water
Preparation

Cover
the
beets
with water and add onions; cover and boil for
1
hour
or
until
beets are tender.
Drain and add sugar, vinegar, cloves, cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of salt.
Mash beets and reheat over a low fire for 10 to 15 minutes.
