Pinto Beans -N- Ham - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. dried pinto beans
    3 to 4 lb. ham (bite size)
    2 medium onions, minced
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    1 Tbsp. black pepper
    1 Tbsp. salt (optional)
    3 qt. water
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    3 to 4 bay leaves
Preparation
    Soak beans overnight with plenty of water; add to beans, onion and trimmed ham (bite size).
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Cover and bring to a boil.
    Boil slowly for 2 to 3 hours, stirring frequently.
    An 8-quart pot is best.
    Remove bay leaves before serving.
