Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced squash
    2 c. onions
    2 large bell peppers
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Layer squash and sprinkle with salt until all squash are in a large container.
    Cover with cold water and soak overnight.
    Drain squash.
    Combine squash with all other ingredients and boil 3 or 4 minutes.
    Seal in hot, clean jars.
