Ingredients

1 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
4 eggs
1 c. self-rising flour
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation

Combine peanut butter, shortening and vanilla in bowl; mix well.
Add sugar gradually, beating well after each addition.
Add whole eggs one at a time, beating well each time.
Blend in flour; stir in nuts.
Pour batter into a greased pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until center is firm when pressed with finger tips.
Cool and cut into squares.
