Custard Rhubarb Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. rhubarb (fresh), cut
    2 egg yolks
    1 c. sugar (granulated)
    3 Tbsp. flour
    2 egg whites
    1 (9-inch) pie crust
    1/4 c. red hot candies (optional)
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks and add to the mixed sugar and flour.
    Stir until blended.
    Mix in rhubarb.
    Add red hots, if desired.
    Pour into unbaked pie crust.
    Bake 15 minutes in 450\u00b0 oven.
    Reduce oven heat to 325\u00b0 and bake 30 minutes.
    Beat egg whites for meringue. Add 1 tablespoon sugar for each egg white (gradually) until whites hold a firm peak.
    Spread whipped egg whites over hot pie and brown in 350\u00b0 oven.
    Serves 6.
