Yellow Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 stick margarine
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 eggs
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. plain flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening, margarine and sugar, beating well.
    Combine sifted flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
    Add vanilla; beat well.
    Add eggs last.
    Beat well and pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Frost with Burnt Caramel Icing.
