Shoo-Fly Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. \"Turkey\" brand table syrup
    1 egg
    3/4 c. hot water
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Combine brown sugar, flour and shortening until crumbly. Reserve 1/4 cup of crumbs for topping.
    To the remaining crumbs, add syrup, 1 egg and baking soda, which has been dissolved in the hot water.
    Mix well; batter will be thin.
    Pour into pie shell and top with crumbs.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Reduce to 350\u00b0 for additional 25 minutes.
    Yields 1 (9-inch) pie.
