Greek Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lbs. beef stew meat
    1/2 c. butter
    3 lbs. onions, peeled and cut up
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1/3 c. red table wine
    1 T. brown sugar
    2 T. red wine vinegar
    Salt and pepper to taste
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 cinnamon stick
    1/2 t. whole cloves
    2 T. raisins
Preparation
    Brown meat in butter. Arrange onions over meat. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over meat and onions. Cover and simmer for 3 hours. Do not stir. This can also be done in the crock pot, and it will take more than 3 hours.
