Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2 lb. chuck beef, cubed
    3 medium onions, sliced
    4 carrots, sliced
    4 medium potatoes, cubed
    3 small bay leaves
    1 tsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. Worcestershire
    2 1/2 c. water
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown lightly floured meat in shortening.
    Add remaining ingredients and cook over low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
