Hunter'S Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cans sauerkraut
    1 (12 oz.) can sliced mushrooms
    6 strips bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
    4 lb. beef stew meat or cubed venison
    1 pkg. onion soup mix
    2 cans beef gravy
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. whiskey
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Drain sauerkraut and place in a saucepan.
    Add mushrooms (undrained) and simmer 20 minutes. Fry the bacon until crisp and remove from pan.
    Brown meat in bacon drippings.
    Drain.
    In a large casserole, place meat, sauerkraut mixture and crumbled bacon.
    Mix rest of ingredients together and pour over.
    Cover and bake for 2 hours at 325\u00b0.
