Fresh Apple Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/3 c. plain flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. each: ground cloves and nutmeg
4 c. finely chopped apples, peeled (add sugar if tart)
1/2 c. soft shortening
2 eggs
Preparation

Combine flour, sugar, salt and spices.
Mix until blended.
Add apples, shortening and eggs.
Beat at medium speed until well blended.
Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan or 2 layer cake pans.
Bake in preheated oven at 325\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.
The cake does not rise much like a fruit cake.
