Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening (Crisco butter-flavored)
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    5 1/2 c. self-rising flour (sifted)
Preparation
    Cream shortening.
    Add sugar and cream well.
    Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; mix well.
    Gradually add flour until dough forms.
    Roll out to 1/2-inch or less thickness and cut with cookie cutter.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 on an insulated cookie sheet for 15 minutes. Cool a few minutes and remove cookies from cookie sheet.
    For crisp cookies, use water.
    For soft cookies, use buttermilk.
