Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sliced apples
    sugar to taste
    pinch of salt
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Bring apples with sugar and salt to a boil. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar; cut in shortening, then add milk. May not need 1/2 cup milk; don't want it too wet.
    Drop dumplings from the spoon (dip spoon in hot mixture each time before spooning out). Place burner on low and cover. Do not lift lid. Cook 15 minutes.
