Butter Mints - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter
    1 c. hot water
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Stir sugar with butter and hot water.
    Add salt.
    Bring to a boil in saucepan.
    Cover and wait 3 minutes.
    Remove lid; wash down sides of pan with a brush dipped in water.
    Cook, without stirring, to 248\u00b0.
    Pour onto a buttered slab; cool.
    Add a few drops of vanilla and coloring; pull until candy loses its gloss. Stretch into rope and cut.
