Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. salt
    8 c. water
    1 qt. sliced cukes
    2 large onions, sliced
    2 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/4 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Dissolve salt in water; pour on cukes and onions.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain.
    Mix vinegar, mustard seed, sugar and water and bring to a boiling point.
    Add turmeric.
    Pour into hot clean jars. Let stand for a couple of weeks before eating.
